Sourcing Local Produce in Winter
In the winter, its hard to find locally grown produce unless its grown in a nearby greenhouse, so try to be conscious of where the produce is sourced from. Look for countries of origin, try to pick the closest location and always choose organic.
Check out the Mountain People's Co-op located on First St. in Downtown Nederland for daily healthy lunch options, bulk items and organic produce.
The best foods to eat to stay well this winter
1. Make a date with porridge
2. Choose fruit and veggies rich in vitamin C
3. Look for sources of zinc, like spinach
4. Eat more iron-rich foods – or take a supplement
5. Up your intake of fish, eggs and cheese
6. Swap sugary foods for sweet root veggies and soups
